This Is Our Story
Arwen Williams is a daughter of North Wales; she was raised among the ancient standing stones and green hills in the land of fairies. Her parents were Buddhist—dad being an antique dealer and mum running a Buddhist retreat centre. Mum also designed costumes for a local theatre; a key to Arwen’s passion for costuming.
Throughout Arwen’s life she has been inspired by varied cultures. In her travells she sought art, dance and traditional costumes of the world. In 1975 she first saw the masai dance while in Kenya and was awestruck. This sparked her curiosity in dance.
The mission of Arwen’s Apparel
We strive to bring people joy through clothing—to see them come to life whether on stage, in the dance class, or just in every day life. We want people to love our clothes, to wear and feel the love we put into creating them. Moreover, we want the high quality and design to be evident and to stand up to years of ware.
It’s tough, but attainable. Arwen handpicks all the fabrics that are used. She has met the ladies who do all the sewing both here in BC and overseas.
It is our job to make you look good, to create for you, to listen to what you have to say about what you want to wear. We want to get to know you, so come on by.
The Gallery
Arwen’s Apparel is available from her gallery in 100 Mile House, Canada. In the Cariboo country, it sits on a beautiful property carved out of raw land. It is these inspirational surroundings which feed our desire to strive for beauty, grace, and style in our products.
Many thanks
“A huge thank you to Martina for her constant support and feedback and for pushing the envelope of dance and costuming. Also to Samantha and Rachel—to Deb Pinchback and to Sue Johnston. Thank you to Nath, and all the dancers and teachers that have supported me on this journey.”
